N,N-Dipropyltryptamine (DPT or "The Light") is a psychedelic drug belonging to the tryptamine family which was first reported in 1973. DPT is an intense synthetic hallucinogenic drug. DPT is the primary sacrament for the Temple of the True Inner Light, a Christian off-shoot organization who believe in psycedelic use and call DPT "the true flesh of God."

DPT is most commonly consumed via insuffalation or intramuscular injection. Some report the experience of insuffalation to be very painful, which with the rapidness of onset, does not give the user much time to acclimate themselves to the strong effects.

Chemistry

N,N-Dipropyltryptamine (DPT) contains the core indol and ethanamine groups of tryptamine with two propyl groups bound to the amino group. It can be found in both its crystalline hydrochloride salt or in its freebase form. It can be considered analogous to DMT, DET, and 5-MeO-DIPT.

Pharmacology

DPT's psychedelic effects are believed to come from its efficacy at the 5-HT2A receptor as a partial agonist. However, the role of these interactions and how they result in the psychedelic experience continues to remain elusive.

Subjective effects

The effects listed below are based upon the subjective effects index and personal experiences of PsychonautWiki contributors. The listed effects will rarely if ever occur all at once but heavier dosages will increase the chances and are more likely to induce a full range of effects.

Physical effects

The physical effects of DPT can often be jarring. At light to moderate doses, there is often a slight sense of anesthetization and relaxation. As the dose increases, perceptions of heart rate increase, body tremors, and loss of muscle control are often reported. DPT can range from strong euphoria and erotiscism to nausea and dysphoria even within the same trip.

  • Spontaneous tactile sensations - The body high of DPT is generally more prominent to that of the better known DMT. There is often the sensation of limbs feeling disconnected from the body, a force pinning the body to the surface on which it lay and body tremors which can often make the user feel aware of but not in control of their body.
  • Motor control loss
  • Changes in gravity - At higher dosages, physical feelings of moving through spaces at quick speeds or being pinned down are common.
  • Body tremors
  • Physical euphoria
  • Nausea

Enhancements

DPT presents a full and complete array of visual enhancements which generally includes:

Toxicity and harm potential

DPT is not known to cause brain damage, and has extremely low toxicity relative to dose. However, via intramuscular injection, there has been a report of an individual passing out at 130 mgs.[1]
