A prodrug is a drug that is inactive when administered, but is converted by natural processes in the body into an active form. Examples include psilocybin (which is a prodrug for psilocin), codeine (a prodrug for morphine), and lisdexamphetamine (a prodrug for dextro-amphetamine).
