Responsible drug use (also known as harm reduction) in the context of psychonautics can be defined as the act of doing adequate research and taking the appropriate precautions to ensure that one is ingesting drugs in a manner that is comfortable, safe, and unlikely to result in a bad experience. This article is dedicated to providing a comprehensive instructional guide on the variety of factors one should consider before experimenting with psychoactive substances in a safe and responsible manner. The first part of this article emphasizes harm reduction tactics for all drug-induced experiences while the bottom half focuses exclusively on hallucinogens.
